About This Plant
The Mexican Ghost Pipe Cactus, also known as Organ Pipe, is a fruit-bearing cactus with long greenish gray slender curving stems. It features large flower buds in lavender, pale white, and pink that open for weeks, typically at night for pollination. It can grow 15–20 feet, sometimes up to 30 feet. The plant bears prized red fruits that are large, spiny when immature, and ripen in late summer. When mature, the fruits lose their spines to reveal edible red pulp.
