About This Plant
Anise Hyssop, also known as blue giant hyssop, fragrant giant hyssop and lavender giant hyssop, is an easy to grow, herbaceous perennial in the mint family. Both flowers and leaves have a licorice aroma and a bitter-minty flavor. The blossoms are often eaten as a salad garnish, and fresh or dried leaves may be brewed into tea. It is a pollinator magnet that grows 2-4 feet tall and about 1-3 feet wide, thriving in sun to partial shade. It tolerates a wide range of soils provided there is good drainage and is drought-tolerant.
