Hardy Banana Musa basjoo - 2 Live Starter Plug Plants

About This Plant

Musa basjoo, commonly known as Hardy Banana or Japanese Fiber Banana, is an ornamental perennial banana prized for its large broad tropical green foliage. It forms a clump over time and grows vigorously in warm, fertile, moist, well-draining soil with full sun to partial shade. While it may flower and fruit under ideal conditions, the fruit is not edible and the plant is primarily grown for foliage and visual impact.

Care and Growing Information

Growing conditions include full sun to partial shade and rich, fertile, moist, well-draining soil. Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture during active growth without waterlogging. In colder climates, apply a substantial layer of mulch to protect the root zone in winter. Full sun encourages vigorous growth, though partial shade is acceptable. Established plants may tolerate winter damage and regrow when conditions warm. Container-friendly with a sufficiently large container.
